Taize Prayer and election of DEXCO (ICYM, Bagdogra Diocese) Taize prayer and election for new DEXCO members was conducted on March 18, 2018 (Sunday), at Good Shepherd Cathedral, Bagdogra. The programme started with a small prayer by Fr. William Tirkey (Diocesan Youth Director). Around 300 youths from 17 Parishes participated in the Taize prayer. Every year during Lent season the DEXCO members organize Taize prayer service for the youths of Bagdogra Diocese. It is an opportunity for the Diocesan youths to come together, show down, step back and try to help focus us in our celebration of the Easter. The taize prayer is a beautiful prayer experience that includes candles, simple chants, scripture and periods of silence. Many youth also made confession. After the Taize prayer the election of new DEXCO members. Fr. Edward Kerketta, the Vicar General, represented Rt. Rev. Vincent Aind, Bishop of Bagdogra in his absence. He also gave a small talk to the youth about the vision and dream of our Bishop for the Youth of the Diocese. He appealed the youth to dream big and to be realistic. The newly elected DEXCO members are as follows: President : Ashok Kujur (Bagdogra) Vice-President : Aldrina Lakra (Matigara) Secretary : Shola Mary Toppo (Gayaganga) Joint Secretary : Akash Kujur (Gayaganga) Treasurer : Renold Kerketta (Mailanijoth) Joint Treasurer : Sanju Kujur (Limbutari) Male Representative : Nishant Bara (New Chumta) Female Representative : Anupriti Soreng (Gulma) Adviser : Priyanka Kujur Rev. Fr. Edward Kerketta celebrated the Holy Eucharist for the participants and during the Mass the newly elected DEXCO members took oath in the presence of diocesan ICYM general body. After the Mass the Youth Director recognized the outgoing DEXCO members who had worked hard for the past three years by honoring them.
