THE THEOLOGY OF THE BODY ENCOUNTER 1st March – 3rd March 2018 Good Shepherd Cathedral Hall Bagdogra The Theology of the Body ENCOUNTER for the Diocese of Bagdogra was awesome. The JTM (St. John Paul II Theology of the Body Messenger) Team from Kolkata was a young, free, lively and enthusiastic group. There were altogether 36 participants from different parishes in the Diocese of Bagdogra. The Encounter began at 4 p.m. on 1 March, 2018. They started from their reflection on the creation of the universe, man and woman, and first sin. The topics which followed were: An encounter with Christ the Bridegroom, Original Man, Historical Man, Eschatological Man and Celibacy (What we are destined for in heaven and how it relates to the celibate vocation), Marriage and Humanae Vitae (Living the Theology of the Body in the vocation of marriage), What is the meaning of life? Why did God create us male and female? Why is there evil in the world and how do we overcome it? How do we attain true happiness on earth? What kind of joys await us in heaven? How can we experience the love we long for in the depth of our hearts? Broken families, abortion, AIDS, internet pornography, sexual abuse scandals, homosexual marriage. Our Church and our world are in the midst of a profound sexual crisis. REAL LIFE TESTIMONIES OF THESE VOLUNTEERS made this whole seminar so lively and realistic. The way this young JTM team conducted this entire seminar was …….. I don’t know what to say…… no words…… I myself relived my student days, as a youth and now as a married man and a parent during this 3 day seminar. After attending this seminar I now feel TOB should be shared with each and every youth in the Diocese of Bagdogra.
